After a lot of hard work practising and tutoring the “wee Govan pipers” gave a debut performance to be proud of at the World Bagpipe Championships at Glasgow Green on Saturday 13th August.
Pipe Major and tutor for the band, Iain Watson, said of the day “The results are in and the dust has settled. I was so proud of the band yesterday. For our first time in the Competition Arena the band put on a perfect display of marching and discipline. The overall competition result does not reflect the amount of effort put in by the band. We can only improve. Yesterday was another step on the ladder of experience. Keep up the Great Work. Onward and Upward!!!!”

A bonus for GSPDA at the Worlds was receiving a very generous donation of £3,000 from CCG Scotland Ltd. Pictured is Iain White (Chairman GSPDA) receiving the cheque from Calum Murray (Director CCG Scotland Ltd) with the Govan Schools children cheering the presentation.
The Govan Schools Pipes and Drums Association would like to thank all of our supporters and sponsors for making this unforgettable experience possible for the band.
